100% original and another stunning example of Paynes work. Very nice cedar spacer, brown wraps tipped in gold "standard Payne colors". Cork looks to have had a light cleaning at some point. So I would say extreme care was taken in fishing this rod. Black slide band & butt cap have no ware which is not very common on rod that have been fished. The rod itself was made around the late 50's early 60's and has seen very light use as you can see from the photo's. In the photo's newer tip is always the nearest tip to the butt section. This is the reason the original owner had another tip built by the Payne rod shop in the mid 60's. The Payne 101! What can I say, one of the best all time 5wt ever made and this rod is in "E" condition with one tip having a safety wrap from a very small hook dig (100% Functional)! It's located just below the 2nd guide down from the tip top. ![]() ![]() Includes: Original later blue & silver label rod tube, sock and hanging tag.ĭescription: PRICE REDUCED GREAT BUY ON A 3 TIP PAYNE.
